Home methods to get rid of Pimples
04.22.06 (10:51 pm)   [edit]

There can be so many ways and creams that you might have already seen and used. But most of them are not 100% safe and effective. Many creams that claim to finish pimples within weeks would have side effects, or some of the methods told by your friends or elders just don't seem to work in your case. So what to do?

We provide you some of the most basic and simple steps that would help you to get rid of pimples from within.
  • Drink 8 or more glasses of water a day. Drinking water hydrates your skin and helps your skin to reatin its health and the same time cleans the pores through sweat. This proves a great deal in avoiding more pimples.
  • Avoid touching your face, as this just spreads bacteria. The pimple or acne in your face is also caused due to unhygenic habits. Your pimples are the breeding grounds of many bacteria. The bacteria can be transferred to other parts of your body through your fingers. You would only help bacteria and pimples to grow more.
  • Wash your face with warm water twice a day. Washing prevents the harmful bacteria from growing further in your skin. If you use good cleansers and use face-wash you would are more likely to open your skin pores and remove the dirt clooged in it. Proper cleaning also prevents the harmful bacteria from your skin thus, causing pimples to vanish!
  • If you want to get rid of your pimples faster then you can try out putting ice on them for 30-60 seconds. Repeat the same procedure every 30 minutes. And then apply alcohol by gently rubbing it with a peice of cotton in your face.
  • If you noticed that new pimples have just started to appear in your skin you should try egg white. When you see the first sign of pimple just try applying egg white in your face, particlulary in the affected area. Wash your face as you normally would and use cotton swab to apply. See how pimples vanish!

Butt Acne Treatment
04.22.06 (10:33 pm)   [edit]

Butt acne is as general a problem in teenagers and adults as is normal acne on the face or on the thighs. However it is a sensitive issue, not because it is a bit more painful than other kinds of acne, but because of where it is located. One tends to believe that butt acne is an embarrassment, making this general issue a sensitive one.

The reason for butt acne can be attributed to the same reasons of acne on anywhere else on the body (of course the only issue is no one knows why acne occurs). We spend a major time of our day sitting and researches also show that our butt remains under pressure for almost 50% of our lifetime. This means that sweat, pressure, and dirt get accumulated on the butt, adding fire to acne development.

Butt acne seems to come and go just like that. Sometimes an existing acne breakout can become worse. Though it starts off as small red spots, these spots develop releasing waste fluids.

Dermatologists believe that without proper examination it wouldn’t be possible to treat butt acne. So it would be up to those suffering from butt acne to come out of their embarrassment shell to go to take help.

There are few tips to avoid butt acne:
  • Keep your clothes clean, particularly those around your buttocks.
  • Try wearing cottons rather than artificial clothing that contains nylon or polyester.
  • Take bath twice a day
  • Consume more amounts of water, that what you do normally.
  • Avoid oils, and coffee.

Butt acne is definitely not a big problem as long as you exercise good common sense.

Pimple in Inner Thighs
04.20.06 (2:30 am)   [edit]

Most of the times pimples in inner thighs occur in obese people. If not then in people who wear body hugging clothes.

The very root why pimples are caused is storage and increase of bacteria in skin pores. Tight dresses, or rubbing of thighs in an obese person causes the bacteria to be collected in the skin pores. This not only speeds the growth of the bacteria, and thus pimples, but also causes this to spread all over the area.

However this can reduced. People wearing skin-hugging dresses will have to wear loose dresses, which is a quick and easy change. But obese people will need to decrease their weight, not only to reduce pimples, but also for their health reasons. Ofcourse this is a long process.

Then what’s the solution? Keep the skin in the thigh areas clean. Take a bath twice if possible. But don’t overwash your self.
  • Stop rubbing or scratching or popping up the pimples. It may cause the bacteria to spread.
  • Avoid too much consumption of chocolate, coffee, alcohol or oils. Be patient with it while keeping it clean. If you do not find any betterment in the situation, visit it the doctor.

Anti Aging Skincare
04.19.06 (2:56 am)   [edit]

Anti-aging skin is major issue in many societies around the world. Now, we are becoming more and more obsessed with wrinkles, aging, and beauty in general. The pressure is to not just look young but vital as well. The key ingredients for healthy, younger looks are balance of mind, spirit and body. This can turn into a positive life change for everyone.

To keep your skin looking gorgeous, wrinkle free, young and smooth on the outside, you must work on the inside of your body as well. There has been much research done about. The following a few tips for maintaining a younger skin.

  • Drink at least eight glasses of water everyday as it helps ward off disease and enhance the health and glow of your skin.
  • Working out on specific areas to firm and shape the muscle underneath the fat. This way, you get a firmer body
  • Writing down your problem areas helps to sort things out in your mind. Your subconscious will work on the problems like food habits and a lot of the problems won’t seem quite so bad.
  • It’s easy to gulp down a super sized fast food meal for lunch every day, but your body will get over stressed with it. Eat fruit salad with low-fat yogurt and your burger with lean chicken or fish and a salad.
  • Make a point to moisturize your face every morning. The moisturizer guards against the dry weather that is more likely to develop premature wrinkles. Choose a face lotion containing SPF 15 or higher.
  • Unfortunately, the thinner you are, the faster your face will age. Instead of dieting, turn your thoughts to healthy eating.
  • Exercise doesn’t just help you lose weight. It also helps your body fight the natural aging process.
  • Do not compromise on your sleep. Decide on a reasonable time to get to sleep each night and stick with it.

Acne pregnancy
04.18.06 (12:36 am)   [edit]

Pregnant women experience acne breakouts at any time during pregnancy. This is what I came to know during my pregnancy. But I didn’t know that it would continue even after my baby girl was born. The most distressing thing that I had to face was arm acne. I knew that acne is not contagious, however keeping my arms clean while taking my little one into my hands did make me feel better. My skin returned to normal after two or three months after the delivery, as if nothing had happened.

I had problems with acne before, but during the fifth month it suddenly broke loose on my skin, especially on face and arms.

This is what I did to protect the baby and myself: I exercised daily under my doctor’s supervision, to stimulate circulation to all parts of the body including the skin.

I ate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, which were cooked after thoroughly washing them. Both exercise and a balance diet not only helped me stay fit during pregnancy, I happen to control the growth of the pimples. Though the pimples were there, I felt a hint of winning.

Then again during the eighth month, acne started growing on my arms.

I kept my skin clean and oil free taking a bath twice a day, or if I felt too cold I use a wet cloth to wipe myself.

I didn’t use acidic soaps or cleaners, because I didn’t know how my skin would react. And it was not the right time to experiment.

I thought of trying medicines because I was getting annoyed. But I was told that most of the medicines use Retinoids, which are dangerous for the unborn child. So I simply evaded the idea, though sometimes I felt embarrassed when people visited. In the end, when all went well and the acne vanished, the doctors told me that they just come and go. But somehow I believe that they vanished without leaving scars, because of the care I took.

How sunless tanners help cure acne and how to apply them?

Compared to any kind of sun or ultraviolet light-induced tanning which damage skin sunless tanners are especially safe. Sunless tanners contain dihydroxyacetone as an active ingredient, which is safe and non-toxic. It exerts its action within the inert top layer of skin to achieve the visible color.

Sunless tanners may be used on the face and body and is safe for acne-prone skin. It removes any dry, dead skin cells leaving your skin in perfect condition.

Acne Involving Hair Follicle
04.01.06 (5:41 am)   [edit]
How acne infections develop in hair follicles?

Acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, which consists of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland and a hair. These units are everywhere on the body except palms, soles, top of feet and lower lip. But, pilosebaceous units are more on the face, upper neck and chest. These sebaceous glands or units produce a substance called sebum, which is responsible for keeping the skin and hair moisturized. Sebum production increases during adolescence because of influence of hormones.

Sebum combines with cells being sloughed off within hair follicle and fills up the hair follicle. When the follicle gets filled, the sebum spreads over the skin surface. When this process works correctly, the skin is moisturized and remains healthy.

Problems arise only when the sebum is trapped in hair follicle. A certain bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes multiplies in this trapped sebum causing a tiny infection. This causes inflammatory acne, or red bumps and pustules. In some follicles the bacteria will not cause an infection. But it changes the lining of hair follicle and forms plugs called comedones.

The only key to skin care for acne is consistent care. Following good skin care aids in the daily and steady improvement of follicle health. The best skin care for comedones is once-a-day cleansing with a mild soap or facial scrub. It aids in the removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. Its better to avoid oil-based makeup since these can contribute to trapping of oil in the follicles. The safe way is to use water-based makeup.

Advice for Pimples on Forehead
03.31.06 (4:13 am)   [edit]
How to make pimples on your forehead vanish?

Sometimes you may get pimples on both temples and forehead, which may produce pus. When it is at its worst your forehead looks reddish with several large infections. So check some of the easy to follow advise for pimples on forehead. It is an annoying but actually rather common problem of post-adolescent acne.

There's usually no particular reason why acne form on forehead. Local factors like sports equipment and sweaty headbands occasionally are a factor, but most of the time they're not. Food is very unlikely to be related. Hair gel makes pimples worse. And, also hair products. If you have oily hair and bangs, the oil from your bangs could be causing it.

    Advice for Pimples on Forehead.

  • Topical and oral treatments are available and effective. Treatment consists of removal with an acne implement or light cautery with an electrical device.
  • Pinching them can cause inflammation. It is ineffective as a treatment, and should be avoided.
  • Effective acne prevention requires using the right treatments, and adjusting product use and hygiene habits.
  • Oily hair can aggravate acne. So stay away from oily products like pomades or hair spray to get rid of pimples on your forehead.
  • If your hair is long, wear it pulled back or consider a shorter style that keeps it off your face, neck and shoulders. Be sure to pull your hair away from your skin when you sleep so that pimples don't develop overnight.
  • Avoid using moisturizers on acne-prone areas to get rid of pimples you have there or practice good acne prevention. If you do use a moisturizer, make sure it is not acnegenic.
  • Wash the skin gently with a mild soap or cleanser and warm water once or twice daily. Hot water and harsh cleansers can further irritate your skin and undermine your acne prevention efforts.
  • Baking soda on a wet cloth works very well for you. Use gently. It can also be used with lotion. Follow with a good moisturizer.

Yasmin Helps Cure Acne
03.29.06 (2:14 am)   [edit]
How suitable is Yasmin for adult acne?

Yasmin for adult acne is a new form of oral contraceptive that people commonly call “the pill”. It is a low-dose, monophasic oral contraceptive birth control pill, which contains estrogen and drospirenone. Drospirenone is a synthetic progestin that differs from other progestins by having antimineralocorticoid properties that influence the regulation of water retention and electrolyte balance in the body, as well as having anti androgenic properties. Also refer to following acne skin care products.

Yasmin for adult acne contains ethinylestradiol. The effect of ethinylestradiol on skin has been evaluated in women with mild to moderate facial acne. A positive effect on acne and seborrhea was observed, with the median acne lesion count decreasing by 62.5% from baseline to cycle 9, whilst seborrhea decreased by 25.1%.

One pill of yasmin contains a progestin very similar to that produced by the ovaries. Yasmin for adult acne has an excellent anti-male hormone effect on skin. This pill has anti-male hormone activity and reduces oil production.

Yasmin for adult acne has been proved to effectively clear acne in women by suppressing the overactive sebaceous glands. It can be used as long-term acne therapy. Estrogens in it decrease sebum production by lowering levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and increasing the sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). This in turn lowers testosterone, thus reducing the drive of the oil glands that are responsible for acne to produce excess oil. For treating acne, progesterones in it produce little or no androgens.

What Causes Severe Acne?
03.28.06 (8:24 pm)   [edit]

The exact cause of acne is unknown, but doctors believe it results from several related factors. Acne is a disorder that causes outbreaks of skin lesions commonly called pimples. It is the most common skin disease. Although acne is not a serious health threat, severe acne can lead to disfiguring and permanent scarring.

The following are the common causes for severe acne: Hormonal Changes

One important factor in the cause of severe acne is an increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones). Androgens enlarge the sebaceous glands in the skin. Second, they cause these glands to increase sebum (oil) production. The increase in androgens in both boys and girls during puberty cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. This hormonal surge also contributes to the development of acne in teens. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy or starting or stopping birth control pills can also cause acne.

Estrogens, which are the female hormones, actually can help to improve acne in girls. A woman's monthly menstrual cycle is due to changes in the estrogen levels in her body. This is why acne in a female may get better and then get worse as she goes through her monthly cycle. To control severe acne a doctor may recommend treatment with birth control pills, which contain the helpful Estrogens.

Hereditary Factors

Another factor of severe acne is heredity or genetics. Researchers believe that the tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents. Studies have also shown that many school-age boys with acne have a family history of the disorder. Certain drugs, including androgens and lithium, are also known to cause severe acne.

Sebum Flow in Hair Follicles

Hair follicles which exist on virtually all skin except for the palms of the hands and soles of the feet are a major factor for causing severe acne. Inside the follicle, the hair extends up from the deep layers of the skin and comes out of a pore. Near the surface, the oil gland (sebaceous gland) enters the hair follicle where it empties oil (sebum) at a relatively constant rate. The sebum lubricates the skin and provides a protective barrier to prevent drying. The increased production of sebum causes blockage of hair follicles, leading to the formation of small bacteria-filled cysts called comedones. If these comedones remain intact and do not rupture, they can progress into open comedones (whiteheads) or closed comedones (blackheads). When comedones rupture, an inflammatory reaction occurs and can spread into the surrounding skin on the face, chest, and back has an especially large number of sebaceous glands. These are the areas where acne occurs and forms plugs. These plugs serve as more "food" for the bacteria.

Bacteria

Bacteria that normally live on the skin also play a role in acne development. The bacterium known as Propionibacterium is responsible for causing severe acne. These bacteria produce substances that cause redness and irritation (inflammation). They also make enzymes, which dissolve the sebum (oil from oil glands in the skin) into irritating substances. These substances also make the inflammation worse.

Other Factors for the Cause of Severe Acne:
  • Oil from skin products (moisturizers or cosmetics) or grease encountered in the work environment (for example, a kitchen with fry vats.
  • Pressure from sports helmets or equipment, backpacks, tight collars, or tight sports uniforms.
  • Environmental irritants, such as pollution and high humidity.
  • Squeezing or picking at blemishes.
  • Hard scrubbing of the skin.
  • Stress

Zits on Vagina – Causes and Cures
    03.24.06 (3:08 am)   [edit]
What are the causes for formation of zits vagina and how to cure them?

Zits on vagina are nothing but pimples formed because of different reasons. Pimples in the vaginal area are called sebaceous cysts. Pimples are considered a normal part of puberty. Nearly eight out of ten teens will have some form of breakouts. Zits vagina will be mostly because of some hormonal defects.

It follows the same kind of course as a facial sebaceous cyst. Mostly they form because of the abundance of bacteria in the area. Zits are generally a cluster of small fluid-filled blisters that break, forming painful sores that crust. They heal over the course of several days. But some people get only rash or small bumps on the skin that appears to be pimples. Some have painful urination and some women have fluid discharge from the vagina.

Symptoms come and go with varying frequency and duration. One person may have an outbreak once a year, while another may have one every few weeks. Before flare-up of zits vagina, there is often an itching, tingling, or burning sensation in the affected area, and sharp pains in the pelvis or down the leg.

The pimples may be caused by irritation around the area. Often they are caused by wearing clothing that is too tight or underwear made of synthetic material. If this is the case, try to keep the area dry. You can find ease while using non greasy Acne lotion and consider wearing cotton underwear. Or at least wear underwear with a cotton crotch, as well as looser fitting clothing.

If you are sexually active, I would suggest abstaining from sex or using a condom until a doctor has diagnosed the problem. The better way to be really sure is to get a STD test or get your partner tested to avoid worries.

Compress vaginal zits using hot or moist disinfectants or water, which can bring the pus out of the surface. It will eventually drain on its own or with minimal pressure. Once it has drained, use an antibiotic ointment on it a couple of times a day. You can get these over-the-counter very inexpensively. You can use generic brands of triple antibiotic ointment.

Don't pick, pop, or squeeze your skin. In addition to causing scarring, this can spread the oil and cause additional pimples. Use an over-the-counter lotion containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help prevent and clear up zits vagina.

    How to Stop Picking Pimples?
    03.23.06 (3:49 am)   [edit]

Serious pimple picking is recognized as a disease and it is termed Dermatitis factitia, literally meaning fictional or artificial skin disorder. Sufferers of this disorder in extreme cases inflict a wide variety of injuries by cutting, piercing, tearing, burning, freezing, or slashing themselves. This compulsive skin picking is done in response to an excessive and unreasonable fear of contamination. Picking pimples may also leave acne marks in your skin which you would hate to see.

Though it is a disease, remember that making the choice to pick or not to pick is under your control. Though it is a compulsive behavior, still you can choose to break your compulsion. Use different means to control your habit. Take a strong decision to make your skin look beautiful and work for it.

Hydrate your skin with enough water. Do regular exercise. Take fresh air. These are first and foremost habits you have to undertake. Other things that will help include a balanced and nutritious diet, stress management and a good night’s rest.

Apart from the above make the following your regular habit to destress yourself:
    • Walk or lay down on grass, especially in the morning.
    • Watch an educational program on TV.
    • Dance and be silly.
    • Go outside and take deep breaths.
    • Do yoga.
    • Read a book.
    • Get a facial – or give yourself a facial.
    • Sit in the bookstore or a public library and read for free.
    • Take a walk around the block.
    • Sing in the shower.
    • Play a computer game or video game.

It is advisable to consult a dermatologist who can guide you to solve your acne problem.

    Aloe Vera and Acne
    03.22.06 (1:41 am)   [edit]
Where can we find Aloe vera and how it helps cure acne?

Aloe Vera gel is the inner part of the aloe vera plant. The extract from the leaves of the Aloe vera plant can be found in many health and beauty products. Aloe vera juice can be produced from either liquid or powdered Aloe. But it is advisable to buy juice made from the liquid extract. But ensure the Aloe content is a minimum of 95% by volume. It should not to be confused with the purity of Aloe vera, which is often shown as 100%.

How Aloe vera helps acne sufferers?

Aloe vera is being used for centuries for burns, to heal damaged skin, and for digestive and intestinal problems. It is proven to accelerate healing because, among many other things, it has the ideal polysaccharides necessary for the skin. It also accelerates healing of the inner skin, the delicate bowel lining. It can be used very effectively both internally and externally for so many different things.

For acne cure it helps in following ways:
    • Helps your skin heal from the damage cause by your acne.
    • Lessens redness and swelling.
    • Improves the overall health of your skin.
How to use aloe vera for acne treatment?

Get pure aloe gel and apply liberally topically to your skin after washing. It's as simple as that. A regular small dose is recommended for healthy skin. The effectiveness may vary from person to person. Some experience benefits immediately, whereas others can take several weeks. Many a times the natural vitamin based products which are healthy for our skin also works.

    Cystic Acne
    03.21.06 (3:07 am)   [edit]

    How to cure cystic acne?

Cystic acne, whether in chronic or intermittent form, is one of the most frustrating types of acne lesions. Cystic acne breakouts are painful. The extent of damage they can cause often goes beyond the reach of topically applied products. Cystic acne is typically triggered by a surge in hormones. The skin's oil glands become hypersensitive to this cascade of hormones and react by overproducing sebum. This makes the oil gland become engorged, swollen, and hardened. Unable to push the extra oil into the lining of the hair follicle, the gland bursts underneath the skin. This causes acute inflammation and irritation leading to the redness and soreness of cystic acne. As these lesions start deep in the skin it leads causes scarring.

Better treatment option for cystic acne is oral hormone therapy. Drugs known as anti-androgens can block the effects of androgenic hormones. But, these prescription drugs are not without side effects. So they are generally prescribed in low dosages.

One can also use hypertension-taming drug spironolactone, which has anti-androgen effects. However, the trade-off of long-term use may not be worth the relief from intermittent cystic acne. Conversely, one could also consider estrogen therapy if tests determine that there is an imbalance in levels of testosterone and estrogen.

Along with the above keep the following in mind
  • Keep your skin-care routine as simple as possible.
  • Avoid the use of overly heavy, thick moisturizers in the areas where cystic acne occurs.
  • The cleanser you're using is a fine option.
  • Make sure you are using an effective sunscreen during the day.
  • Don’t use standard topical anti-blemish treatments, if cystic acne is exclusively what you're dealing with.
  • Regular exfoliation with a salicylic acid (BHA)–based product will keep debris from building up in the hair follicle lining.
  •
    Monophasic Oral Contraceptives For Acne
    03.20.06 (4:43 am)   [edit]

A research conducted at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Sao Paulo University in Brazil throws light over the issues related to acne control through monophasic drugs. Acne vulgaris was also one of the studies that were conducted during this operation. Before the initiating the study of this drug small groups of people were assessed for blood pressures and the body weight were measured. This was important to make sure that these people were not vulnerable and free from any severe illness.

After treating a small group of people with these medicines it was found that these people experienced improvements. It was also noticed that the treatments with these medicines or chemicals did not had any side affects on the health of the groups. It was also found that all the cases with pre existing acne improved in both the groups, whereas blood pressure and body weight remained almost unchanged. So this study proved that when monophasic drugs are taken for acne control it helps in fighting back acne without showing any signs of negative affects.

So the it can be concluded by looking into these facts that monophasic oral contraceptive for acne are a safe, and can successfully control the acne problem up to a desirable amount. Now monophasic oral contraceptives for acne treatment can also be added as an extra constituent in other effective and safe drugs to boost the acne treatment procedure.

Acne in late twenties or adult acne
    07.05.05 (9:55 am)   [edit]
You thought that acne is problem only in teens. Acne can affect any age group and in fact there is a rise of acne cases and Acne in late twenties is growing. If acne in late twenties occurs it brings with it a long lasting physical and psychological ramifications. Adult acne is more severe as it could leave permanent scars as due to the ageing of the skin it loses collagen.

The perception is changing about occurrence of acne in a particular age group. It is required too as if we recognize this as a real problem then only we could find better ways to fight it out. The causes and affect of adult acne or acne in late twenties is different then teen acne and so is medication. Due to lack of public awareness, people with acne problem in their adulthood seldom seek medical advice. However, the times are changing and people are now taking this with stride.

    Cause of severe acne
    06.29.05 (11:26 am)   [edit]
Lets have look at some of the cause of severe acne. As we know, that acne is caused due to change imbalance in production of hormones. Cause of severe acne is not over production of hormones but is due to hyper-response to the hormones.

Severe acne could also be caused due to some creams and oil, which are irritating. It could also be caused due to topical steroid creams. Corticosteroid medication also adds to the severity of acne. Severe acne could also be caused due to few other medicines/drugs such as birth control pills, certain steroids, dilantin or Lithium.

Severe acne is caused when acne affects deeper skin tissues and causes high inflammation then common acne. Avoid common skin friction, which may be due to helmets etc.

    Acne involving the hair follicle
    06.29.05 (10:09 am)   [edit]
Does the phrase "Acne involving the hair follicle" is true. I would say yes. Around 80% of people have acne between age group of 12-24, minimum once. However, it may also affect adults often and pregnant women. Pregnant women can have acne due to hormonal changes due to pregnancy.

Lets have a look at how the phrase "Acne involving the hair follicle" is true. Acne occurs when plugging of hair follicles occurs with dead skin cells and oil. Hair follicle biologically is connected to sebaceous glands, which secretes sebum. Sebum is an oily substance, which helps in lubricating hair and skin. When body produces excess of this sebum it may accumulate in the follicle and hence one gets acne.

    Best face makeup for acne
    06.29.05 (9:28 am)   [edit]
